Bridal Gifts
One of the most exciting moments on your wedding day is when you open your wedding gifts. However, your excitement can be dampened once you find out that you receive more than one of the same thing and end up with five blenders, three toasters and seven coffee makers that you cannot use.
To address this, most department stores have created a system called a bridal registry where you can pick from a list of their inventory that you want to receive. When your guests go to the stores where you and your fiancé are registered, they can then buy the items on the list. To prevent your guests from buying the same items, the stores will remove the purchased item from the list.
To be able to take advantage of this system, it is a good idea for you to also plan the things that you want to put on the list. Below are a few tips that you can follow.
Know What You Need and Want
Once you and your fiancé have set a date, you can start going to stores to register. But before doing so, it would be good to make your own list of the things that you need and want to receive. This will involve the two of you sitting down and actually talking about the things you want to put on the list. If you have been living together for a while now, it is a good idea to make a list of what you already have or what you want to replace. Having an idea of what you would want your future home to look like will also help you in your choices.
Where to Register
In picking out the stores where you want to register, it is a good idea to ask questions about how they keep records of purchases, their return policies and shipping charges, if any. It is also a good idea to register in two to four stores so that your guests can have more choices in their gift selection. After informing your guests of the places where you are registered, also try to keep updated on the purchases that have been made.
Bridal registries can help you a lot in making sure that you get the gifts that you need and want. All you need to do is plan a little so that you can maximize this system.
